Exploring San Pablo’s Sampaloc Lake (Part 1)
It would be a great weekend for the whole family. All of us are anticipating another thrill of adventure as we have time to celebrate Ruel’s birthday. What we chose to explore are nearby town here in Calamba which is San Pablo’s Sampaloc Lake.
We transcend our trip going to San Pablo taking the Los Banos route as we capture the beauty of the road along the way.
Our first stop-over always is to grab pineapple at Calauan which is just along the way. Highly recommended, the sweetest pineapple ever as my kids would love to eat along the way rather than usual chips.
We can get it for P 20.00 each and the most P 50.00 for three pieces. Big deal!
The most we can get to San Pablo will be 20 to 30 minutes road trip if you will be coming from Calamba. This would be the first scene that would capture the nature at its best.
Its a lake and a mountain in one that even 11:00 am in the morning, we cannot feel the heat of the sun – only the coldness of fresh air that surrounds the area.
We refresh ourselves with the buko (coconut) selling around the area as San Pablo is very known for its main product.
The spoon would be the husk of the coconut as we indulge the meat of the coconut.
Price is P 15.00 per piece.
There are so much activities to be done here. One is riding in a “balsa” to explore the whole area of the lake.
The price for riding is P 30.00 per person. Who-ow, quite shocking for me because the ride is so cheap compare formerly to our Pagsanjan boat ride would cost us a thousand peso per person.
Definitely, our family didn’t have second thought to give it a try.
Still, the magic in loving the nature that we embedded to the kids are still there. No boring moments…
We got a closer view with the mountain which is just near the lake.
According to the boat men, this ride was only conceptualized last four months ago, October 2010 to be exact. They have already open the idea to the city government as a way of alternative living while waiting for the fish to grow within their pen. From there, they can also protect the whole lake by cleaning it up which is quite amazing to see that they keep to the promises.
Even the mall sprouted within our area, still, the family miss this kind of activity – close to nature as they appreciate the beauty by itself.
We stayed in the lake for almost 45 minutes. Still, you can tell the boat men if you like to go back to the place.
Our teenage kids brought their mp3 and spend their time listening to the music while we transcend the whole Sampaloc lake and stayed for almost an hour in the middle.
We intended to go father with our weekend escapade but choosing nearby places like Sampaloc Lake near Calamba is really a wise choice.
Budget wise, we only spent P 300.00 for the gasoline bringing own vehicle and we have our pack lunch as we picnic along the area.
A simple yet remarkable experience for the whole family.
